Botulinum toxin has been used successfully for many years in aesthetic medicine to treat wrinkles. It is injected into the mimic muscles with a fine needle and selectively paralyses them.
The sensitive functions of the nerves - the sensation of warmth, cold, touch or pain - are not affected.
The best results are achieved in the upper half of the face: for the treatment of horizontal forehead wrinkles, frown lines and crow's feet.
By relaxing the facial expression, the skin is tightened and the formation of wrinkles is prevented.
Botox is also successfully used to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).
The effect lasts 3-6 months.
